Electric Generation and Distribution
Municipally owned and operated- Responsive to customer needs
- Highly reliable looped system with local generation available
- Generation supplied from coal, natural gas or oil
- Distribution primary voltage is 13.2 KV
- Able to meet any necessary secondary voltage
- Captures detailed electrical usage data (15-minute sampling)
- Low rates
- Looped system with 12-inch primary mains
- Six wells capable of delivering 3.5 MGD
- State-of-the-art iron removal and purification plant
- Two water towers (one million gallon tower in the Industrial Park)
- Current use is approximately 60% of capacity
- System pressure is approximately 70 psi
- Water hardness – 360 mg/l
- Sewer mains are 8-inch or larger
- Activated sludge treatment facility
- Current wastewater plant is operating at less than half maximum capacity
Gas Distribution
- Operated by Aquila
- 4-inch mains providing medium pressure (up to 50 lbs.)
- SBC operates the local exchange
- Digital circuits and high-capacity services available
- Mobile phone service provided by Alltel, Centennial, Nextel and Sprint
- Comcast provides high-speed cable modem service
- SBC provides high-speed DSL service
