Dawn Theater

The Dawn Theater opened in 1919 as a vaudeville and silent movie house. It continued as a movie house until it closed in 1996. It saw a brief stint as a nightclub and banquet facility until it was permanently closed to the public in 2015. The City of Hillsdale TIFA purchased the structure in 2016. With the aid of a $1.4 million MEDC (Michigan Economic Development Corporation) Blight Elimination grant for Historic Preservation and Rehabilitation, the Dawn Theater was given a new lease on life. It reopened to the public on February 19, 2022.
