Concussion Policy

The City of Hillsdale and Hillsdale Recreation considers safety to be of utmost importance when providing athletic programs for area youth.  Because recognition and treatment of athletes who have suffered a concussion has become a national priority, the City of Hillsdale / Hillsdale Recreation have adopted a Concussion Management Policy in accordance with MCL 333.9155 and MCL 333.9156.  In doing so, coaches, parents, and athletes are made aware and informed of signs of concussion and how to act accordingly should such an occurrence arise.

With the Concussion Management Policy in place, coaches will be required to receive certified Youth Sports Training annually.  Training is provided at no charge through Center for Disease Control.

Parents and Athletes must read and sign a  Parent & Athlete Acknowledgement Form.  It is important for Parents and Athletes to recognize signs and symptoms of concussion along with coaches in order to better ensure the safety of our children. Please note this form must be on file with Hiillsdale Recreation in order for your child to participate.  Please return it with at the time of registration. For additional information regarding concussion; recognizing signs, symptoms and treatment click here.
